Standards of Professional Practice and Ethics

CRGAR members make a commitment to ethical standards of practice at the moment they submit their application. Upon final CRGAR acceptance they automatically become members of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) in the United States, and are bound by NAR’s Standards of Professional Practice.
CRGAR also has adopted a legal procedure for accepting ethical concerns from anyone about the professional standards exhibited by any realtor in Costa Rica. The procedure follows Costa Rica’s rules of law and evidence, and the submission must be signed by the individual registering the concern.
After submission:
If the concern is related to a CRGAR member, the regular process of the Ethics Committee will commence under the supervision of the Board Fiscal. The possible solutions range from exoneration to sanctions and expulsion.
If the concern is related to a realtor, who is not a member of CRGAR, the submission will be retained in our confidential files for review should the named realtor apply for CRGAR membership in the future.
Contact CRGAR at Fiscal@crgar.com with your ethical question, concern, or to request the package to initiate an Ethics investigation.
